Morgante
Founded in 1994 by Antonio Morgante with sons Carmelo and Giovanni, representing the fifth generation of the family devoted to viticulture in southern Sicily. In 1997, the family hired renowned oenologist Riccardo Cotarella as winemaker, proving crucial to their success. Morgante specializes exclusively in Nero d’Avola, Sicily’s premier red grape, producing approximately 400,000 bottles annually with rigorous pursuit of excellence from indigenous grapes.
Estates: 150-200 hectares in the pristine countryside at 1,200-1,800 feet (350-550 meters) elevation near Grotte, Agrigento. Mediterranean climate with clay, limestone, and marl soils. Complete control from vineyard to cellar with limited hectare yields, focusing exclusively on single-varietal Nero d’Avola wines that express the unique terroir.
