Haras de Pirque
Estate originally established as thoroughbred racehorse breeding farm in 1892; wine production began in 1990s with first commercial vintage in 2000. Originally a joint venture between Marchese Piero Antinori and the Matte family (Chilean landowners), established in 2001. Fully acquired by the Antinori family in 2017 after taking over winemaking operations in 2014. The name “Haras de Pirque” pays tribute to Chile’s oldest thoroughbred racehorse breeding farm. Winery designed in unique horseshoe shape, referencing horse-racing heritage. Produces organic wines; achieved organic certification in 2016.
Estates: Over 100 hectares of vineyards in foothills of Andes Mountains at 550-650 meters above sea level. Soils rich in clay in lower areas, rocky in upper areas. Hot, dry summers mitigated by humid ocean air from Pacific and cool nights from Andes proximity. Focus on organic viticulture, expressing Maipo Valley terroir, sustainable practices including carbon footprint measurement and energy efficiency. Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carménère, with Sauvignon Blanc sourced from Leyda Valley. Flagship Wine: Albis (distinctive red blend). Winemaker: Cecilia Guzmán (22+ years with estate).
